Climbing

My climbing career had a humble beginning in a dusty YMCA gym in Boise, ID in 2003. At six years old, I had no idea how climbing would forever change the course of my life. Shortly after, I joined their competitive team and starting traveling the West with our ragtag crew. From 2004 to 2015, I mostly competed in the USA Climbing sport climbing circuit, with occasional forays into speed climbing and bouldering comps. At Utah State University, I founded, coached, and climbed for the USU Climbing collegiate team.

From 2011-2014, I completed 49 of the 50 state highpoints. These summits taught me about perseverance, survival, and many alpine climbing skills. Additionally, I got to learn the dirtbag lifestyle on roadtrips around the USA. Summiting Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, Gannett Pk, Granite Pk, and other highpoints presented me with a refreshing view of climbing and outdoor exploration. I had the opportunity to star in a documentary called “Highpointers” that aired on PBS, which chronicled the end of my journey in highpointing.

Since college, my focus has primarily been on sport and trad climbing in Utah. After recovering from a highball bouldering fall in 2017 that shattered my foot and ankle, resulting in 4 reconstructive surgeries, crack climbing has become more difficult (but possible in small doses).

Most of my goals are sport climbing based currently, but I also value adventure climbing and big walling when possible. I live in St. George, a desert mecca surrounded by many rock types and climbing options to keep me busy. Travel and visiting classic climbing areas in other locations is a priority for me. I’ve had the privilege to climb in El Potrero Chico (Mexico), Squamish (B.C.), and major crags in every Western state.

I am deeply grateful for my sponsors for supporting my dreams: The Desert Rat, Cypher Climbing & Liberty Mountain, Crux Power Climbing, HILX Eyewear, and PitchSix ForceBoard.
